MONIGOLD, ENOLD, 1977 BASEBALL TEAM HEAD CONOTTON VALLEY HALL OF FAME CLASS!
1966 graduate Jim Monigold (pictured left) and 1956 graduate Jim Enold (pictured below) are the newest inductees to the CV Hall of Fame. The 1977 Baseball Team also was inducted along with Monigold and Enold on January 26-27, 2018.
Monigold
was a star athlete at Conotton Valley where he actually competed in five sports in one season -- baseball, basketball, football, golf, and track. He was named All-Eastern Ohio 1st Team in basketball his junior and senior years at CV.
He went on to play both basketball and baseball at Ashland College his freshman and sophomore years.
In 2000, he was inducted into the Harrison County Hall of Fame and the following year, he was inducted into the Cy Young Baseball Hall of Fame. He also served as the head baseball coach at Conotton Valley leading his team to district titles in 1977, 1982, and 1988.
Enold lettered all four years in high school baseball as a pitcher/shortstop and was named the county MVP in baseball all four years. He also participated in basketball all four years. Coming out of high school, he was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates and was subsequently traded to the Philadelphia Phillies after one year in the minor leagues. An injury after playing major league baseball for four years brought his career to an abrupt end. He later served as a pitching coach for Conotton Valley under Monigold and then later Bart Busby.
