#CVROCKS

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year.  The staff is very excited about the changes around the district that provide opportunities to impact the lives of our students.  The landscape has been transformed over the summer and will continue to evolve throughout the spring of 2021 as the Rocket Center construction project unfolds.

As we enter year four of the "Leader In Me" program, the staff is excited for the growth ahead.  Our district leadership team decided to change the name of each student's education plan from PEP to a Wildly Important Plan or WIP.   Each WIP will include an academic goal focused on improving the student's reading level and a cultural goal which will be created by the student.  The students will gather evidence for demonstrating their growth, to be placed in their leadership binder. Students will use this binder to guide the conversation during each of our two student-led conferences, scheduled for November 1, 2019, and March 26, 2020.

Also this year, we will be experiencing year two of our standards-based grading system.  The goal is for each child to reach mastery of every standard. Therefore, we must be diligent with our students to accept nothing short of their best effort.  Two significant advantages of SBG are with communication and the flexibility of pacing afforded to students. Students should earn nothing less than "Mastery" or "Approaching" by year's end unless they are not giving quality effort.  Parents are requested to join our faculty in raising expectations and accepting nothing less than each student's best effort.

Finally, the Conotton Valley Board of Education is asking our community to be patient with the parking situation.  We know that the new construction will increase our parking dilemma, but we are working on it. We intend to provide additional parking spaces before the school year ends!  Have a great year and Go Rockets!
