Principal's Welcome

Meet the Principal

Dear Rockets Family,

I am truly excited to be the new principal of Conotton Valley Elementary School.  I am looking forward to the new school year with a great deal of enthusiasm and anticipation.  I am confident we are going to have an amazing year!

For those of you who do not know me, I look forward to meeting and working closely with you to ensure your child is able to realize the fullness of his/her potential.  The 2021-22 school year will mark my thirty-third year as a school principal and thirty-eighth as an educator.  I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree from Marietta College and hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.  Most importantly for you to know is that I will always be a strong advocate for our students and teachers.  I take my role as building leader very seriously and the health, safety, and well-being of the students and staff will always be my top priority!

My wife Wendy, the Executive Director of the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum, and I have been married for 36 years and have three adult children-Caitlin who resides in Austin, Texas; Ethan and his wife Baili who live in New Philadelphia; and our youngest daughter Madeleine who calls Dublin, Ohio home.  We also have a four year old ChiPoo (chihuahua poodle blend) named Scarlet!

My hobbies include participating in and watching all types of sports, traveling, and spending time with my family.  I am an avid Ohio State fan, particularly OSU football-my son was a member of the 2014 National Championship Team. Go Bucks!

In closing, thank you for placing your faith and  trust in me as I care for your most precious possession, your child!  Please know that I welcome your thoughts, ideas, concerns, and compliments - my door is always open to our parents, students, and staff.  By working together, we can accomplish amazing things.  Go Rockets!

Sincerely,

John R. Zucal
